Akuapem Poloo granted bail after tens of thousands signed petition asking for her to be freed

  An Accra High Court has granted convicted actress, Akuapem Poloo, ¢80,000 bail.   The court granted her bail on Wednesday,  April 21, with two sureties to be justified.   As part of her bail condition, Poloo, whose real name is Rosemond Brown, has to report to the case investigator every two weeks.   She is also supposed to deposit her passport with the registrar of the court.   The court, presided over by Justice Ruby Aryeetey, said she will only travel with the express permission of the court.   The court further said the applicant has satisfied the four grounds of bail pending appeal.   The application for bail was not opposed by the state who were present in court represented by Senior State Attorney Selasie Kuwornu.   According to him, this is because the State had no control over the length of the appeal which could travel beyond the 90 days jail sentence.   The Ghanaian actress had been sentenced to 90 days in jail for snap...

Arsenal captain, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang deactivates Twitter account after ranting about Covid, online abuse and racism amid the Super League fury

  Arsenal captain, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has deactivated his Twitter account after sharing a final tweet in which he criticised people for not talking about Covid, online abuse/ racism amid the Super League outrage.    The Gabonese striker, who is currently recovering from malaria after contracting the disease while on international duty, deactivated his account on Tuesday night, April 20.      Aubameyang was irritated about how the now suspended European Super League had taken over social media more than issues like Covid-19, online abuse or racism, before deactivating his Twitter account.    Aubameyang posted: “I ain’t missed you Twitter. So we not allowed to talk about anything?   “Only football and Super League? No more talking about Covid?! Or online abuse or racism. Nice. Even Sick (without fone) I was feeling better than now with fone.   “Let me turn it off. See u.”  

Photos of lions in OAU and UI zoos raise concerns

  Photos of lions at zoos in Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) and Univeristy of Ibadan (UI)  has sparked a discussion.   The lions look malnourished in photos shared to Instagram.   The photos are recent ones and show the skinny lions with their bones visible.   One lion has lost its tail in addition to looking malnourished.    See below.  

Three Katsina varsity students killed in ghastly motor accident on their way home after exams

  Three students of the Umaru Musa Yar’adua University (UMYUK) have died in a ghastly motor accident on their way home after concluding their examinations.   It was gathered that the accident involving a commercial bus occurred along Katsina – Dutsin-ma highway on Tuesday evening, April 20.    The Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the SUG President, Umar Ahmad, who confirmed the report in a statement on Wednesday April 21, said two other students were injured in the accident.    "With immense sorrow, pain and grief, The student's Union Government regret to announce the untimely demised of some students. They were involved in a ghastly car accident yesterday on their way back from school to their various destination," the statement reads.   He gave the names of the injured as Halilu Ibrahim - Edu. Man marries two wives same day in Abuja

  A young man identified as Bashiru Ahmad Abaji has married two women same day in Abuja.   Bashiru married Zainab and Nafisat on Saturday, April 3, in Abaji Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory.    One of the guests, Abudulkareem shared photos of the groom and his two new wives wishing them a happy married life.

  A Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Minna, Niger State has remanded a housewife, Amina Aliyu along with three other accused persons over allegations of conspiracy and culpable homicide.   LIB   reported that the newlywed, Fatima Aliyu,19, was allegedly beaten to death with a pestle and her body set on fire by Amina in Minna, on Tuesday March 23, seven weeks after her wedding. Amina, who is nursing a three-week-old baby boy was arraigned alongside Aisha Mohammed, Zainab Aliyu and Fauziyya Rabi’u, by operatives of Homicide section of the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) Niger State Police Command, on Wednesday, March 31.   The accused persons were alleged to have conspired among themselves to kill Amina’s co-wife, Fatima.   According to the Police First Information Report (FIR), Amina Aliyu and Fati Aliyu were both married to the same husband and reside on Mandela Road, Sauka-Kahuta area of Minna. Kendall Jenner granted restraining order against a man who wanted to kill her

  Reality star and supermodel, Kendall Jenner has reportedly been granted a temporary restraining order after a man threatened to have her killed.   According to TMZ, a judge signed off on the order against Malik Bowker on Monday, March 29, after the 25-year-old model was informed by an LAPD detective that the 24-year-old man allegedly intended to buy an illegal firearm and shoot the both of them.   The legal documents obtained by the news outlet state that Bowker has been placed on a psychiatric hold at a local hospital and is due to be released, which is said to be causing the 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians' star "severe emotional distress and anxiety"   Kendall, who has 24-hour security at her home - has claimed to have never met Bowker before and is frightened that he will cause her harm, which is why she applied for the restraining order that means he has to stay 100 yards away from her at all times by law.   It's not the first time the supermodel has bee...
