KABC sportscaster Rob Fukuzaki and former Lakers and NBA Hall of Famer James Worthy took part in the second annual Southern California Prep Legends awards ceremony sponsored by the Southern California Newspaper Group and KABC-7, honoring Southern California’s best high school athletes in 11 categories for the 2016-17 sports season.
The event was held at the Sports Museum of Los Angeles, owned by collector Gary Cypres, which claims to have the world’s largest private collection of Dodgers memorabilia, and is displayed in a 32,000-square-foot space in downtown Los Angeles.
Cypres’ collection includes rooms featuring Babe Ruth and Jackie Robinson memorabilia, model replicas of Yankee Stadium and Fenway Park, and displays of the first football helmet.
KABC-7 will air the awards show with host Fukuzaki on Sunday, June 24 at 6:30 p.m., which includes male and female athletes of the year and several other categories voted on by the staff of the Southern California Newspaper Group
